If your an NBA fan who is in your late 20’s or older, you remember the Chicago Bulls with Jordan and coach Phil Jackson having some epic playoff series before they were finally able to get over the hump and win their first NBA championship together. The main team in the eastern conference for years that prevented Jordan & Jackson from advancing was the Detroit Pistons, and now according to reports, Jackson himself is going to be helping the Pistons. Say what?? Read about it after the jump.

This might not be the way people expected Jackson to return to the NBA, but here it is. He will not be coaching the Pistons, at least not yet. He has agreed to be hired by the team as an advisor during their new coach search. Pistons owner Tom Gores was quoted in a letter he released yesterday.
“Phil Jackson is a friend and one of the best minds in the business,”. We are thrilled to have him as an adviser as we make some very important decisions for this franchise. Joe (Dumars) and I discussed this and he and I are in full agreement that this is a great opportunity.”
Jackson has already turned down an offer from the Cavs to coach and recently was getting interest from the Raptors to work in the front office. Jackson being attached to Detroit while they look for a new coach could wind up working out very well for the team. Of course him being there for now will attract interest from top qualified coaches around the league. His position will most likely end when they find a new coach, but you never know.
