Revis is rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered last season. The Buccaneers, who will want to know as much about the knee before committing to a trade for Revis, hold the No. 13 slot in the 2013 NFL Draft and likely would have to give up that and a second-rounder. Another later pick is probable. TheJets already own the No. 9 spot.
Revis and the Buccaneers have been working on a long-term contract for several days, sources briefed on the process told NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. Substantial progress has been made, Rapoport reports, and the Buccaneers seem comfortable enough to make the trade, knowing Revis wouldn’t be a one-year rental. The physical is thought to be the trade’s final piece before everything comes together.
UPDATE: The Jets and Buccaneers have agreed on the trade, Yahoo Sports’ Jason Cole reported Sunday morning. The deal should be finalized by Sunday night or Monday morning, according to Cole. Breer reported that the Buccaneers and Jets have worked out trade parameters, according to a source briefed on the situation, and the Buccaneers have the framework for a contract in place with Revis.
