Well sorry Jets fans but it’s official, the best cornerback in the league Darrelle Revis is now a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. Read more after the jump.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Revis flew to Tampa Bay to meet with the front office and it was assumed a deal would be signed upon him passing a physical, which he completed today. Revis passed the physical and a deal was hammered out.
The Bucs will send the 13th overall pick in Thursday night’s draft and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2014 that could become a 3rd-round pick. The six-year deal is reportedly for a max of $96 million with Revis making $16 million each year. The deal makes Revis the highest paid defensive back in NFL history. Revis will not be released before this season, meaning he is assured of making this season’s base salary but the deal doesn’t include any guaranteed money.
Want something to look forward to? The Jets will play the Bucs in week one and the Bucs will play Richard Sherman’s Seahawks in week nine.
