This is incredible to me. The fact that this coach, who parents trusted to guide and look after their kids, violated that trust and mentally & physically abused his players is sick as it is. But then for Rutgers to pay him for the remaining 2 years he had on his contract is mindblowing. By now I am sure you all know of Mike Rice, the former mens basketball coach at Rutgers University, who was fired last month after videos were made public of him literally hitting kids and talking to them as if they were scum. I wish one of the players would of knocked him out, but then the media would of tried to make the kid out to be a thug or a hoodlum. They agreed to pay Rice $475,000 as part of a settlement. I am pretty sure in a coaches contract, that abusing players is not part of the job description. So someone please tell me why Rutgers gave in and paid this man. Any agreements prior to him being fired I would expect to be null & void after what he did. So yeah they fired him, but they also gave him a nice gift on the way out. What example does that really set? For those who never saw it, watch the video after the jump to see how he treated his players.
