When Kobe went down with a torn achilles during the Lakers game against the Warriors a debate brewed as to who should take the blame. Sometimes you just can’t prevent injuries, things happen but that wasn’t Kobe’s first injury of the night. Kobe injured his knee and foot earlier in the game and was already fatigued from playing every minute without resting. Despite each injury looking worse than the one before it, he still remained in the game. So is it Kobe’s fault for refusing to leave the game or is it D’Antoni’s fault for not forcing Kobe to sit? Former Lakers coach Phil Jackson gave his thoughts. Read more after the jump.
Many people have been critical about Kobe playing nearly 48 minutes every game. His determination and work ethic pushed him to do whatever he had to do to get the Lakers the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference playoff picture. Still it might have been too much and the heat has come down hard on coach Mike D’Antoni for not exerting some control over Kobe minutes. Some even say that D’Antoni insisted Kobe played that much as we’ve seen him do in the past with other players.
The Zen Master and former Lakers coach Phil Jackson took to his twitter to give his opinion on the matter.
