Police Sergeant Ron King has been fired after he bringing targets inspired by Travyon Martin to a gun range. King was leading off a target practice with two other officers and a civilian port worker when he asked them if they wanted to use the targets modeled after Trayvon. Not only did the others who were partaking in the target practice tell King no, but also told him to put the targets back in his car. Read more about the targets and the incident below.
King said that he purchased the targets last year from a website and they were designed by an Orlando businessman. The targets have a black hoodie, a package of Skittles, and a can of Arizona. It’s clear that in certain areas of the south, there is still blatant racism and it make me sick. I’m glad that Sergeant was completely fired and not just on paid leave or desk duty, but sadly some other racist department will probably hire him.
