The LA Clippers had been without veteran point guard Chauncey Billups for much of the season due to injury. He returned and after playing 20 games, it appears he’s done once again. Read more after the jump.
From Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times:
“He’s going to be out a little bit,” Del Negro said. “I don’t know how much. I’ll know more [Friday], probably. But I don’t expect him around for a while.
“I’m not sure if Chauncey will be out a game, two games, two weeks. I don’t know yet. It depends on how he reacts working out.”
“We can just never get him healthy, so it’s been tough,” Del Negro said. “I feel bad for him. We’re trying to get some continuity, but it’s hard to when he’s in one or two games and out with the groin or the back or whatever.”
The Clippers have one of the deepest benches in the league but could still miss having Billups veteran leadership and championship experience in the mix. Whether or not he will be on board they need to know soon so they can figure out their game plan. Coach Vinny Del Negro is already having trouble with the squad and they will need to be well prepared should they face the tough Memphis Grizzlies in the 4-5 matchup.
