The New York Police Department has issued a three page document on how officers should use social media sites. The department, bans officers from posting/tagging photos of other officers/themselves in uniform on social sites. They are not allowed to speak to lawyers, witnesses or minors as well as can’t post anything dealing with crime scenes, basically anything that would be deemed private.New York isn’t the only city to issue bans to their officers, there are many cities across the U.S. that have put guidelines in place to keep up with everything being more social media oriented.
