You gotta feel bad for this guy. You don’t have to be a Mets fan for this to be big news. Johan Santana, the Mets best all around pitcher looks like he is going to miss the entire 2013 upcoming season due to a shoulder injury. It’s sad because he already missed the entire 2011 season with the same exact injury. He had surgery in 2011, a surgery which less than a dozen pitchers in baseball history were ever able to come back from. Santana was able to come back and last year threw the first no-hitter in Mets history. But now with the injury to the same shoulder, it is likely not only his season, but his career is over as well. This was the last year of his 6 year/$137 million dollar contract, and the odds of any team ever offering him a contract again are slim. Santana was examined in New York on Wednesday by team doctor David Altchek, who performed the original Sept. 2, 2010, procedure. An MRI revealed a probable re-tear. At the request of Santana’s agent, Altchek consulted with renowned doctors James Andrews and Lewis Yocum. Both confirmed the probable diagnosis of the re-tear of the anterior capsule, Alderson said. I am not a big baseball guy, but I am pulling for Santana to make it back one more time. Check the video about his injury after the jump.
