Last year the black suits and Raybands were pulled out for “MIB 3”, the first in the film series in 10 years. Now another Will Smith classic is being pulled from the archives, and this one is even older! After a successful release in 1996, “Independence Day” is preparing for a sequel. Two sequels, to be exact! Some of the original cast has signed on already too! Details below.
Too Fab reports:
Director Roland Emmerich told Entertainment Weekly that two follow-ups to “ID4” are planned, tentatively titled “ID Forever Part 1” and “ID Forever Part 2.” They will take place 20 years after the original film, when the distress call sent by the aliens in the first film reaches their reinforcements, who head to Earth with a vengeance.
Bill Pullman has signed back on, but Will Smith has yet to be confirmed. It’s unclear if he even will be, as the movie’s focus will be on a new, younger generation of heroes.
No release date has been set as of yet.
