Things got testy last night between John Wall and Klay Thompson as the Washington Wizards took on the Golden State Warriors. Wall went a little too far for the refs liking and got himself ejected from the game. Read more after the jump.
Wall was already walking a tight rope having one technical called against him when he argued a physical screen set by David Lee should have been called a foul. The game got even more physical between him and Klay Thompson as Wall was going for a layup and was knocked to the ground by Thompson. A foul was called rightfully so but Wall oversold it a bit looked like flopping but Wall was visibly upset.
Wall jumped up and walked over to Thompson’s direction, ignoring teammate Emeka Okafor’s attempts to get him to calm down. As he approached Thompson, Wall shouted, “Go to the basket and I swear to God, I’ll knock your a** out.”
Thompson leaned over and grabbed his shorts. Wall moved closer, hovering over Thompson as he nodded and repeatedly shouted, “Go to the basket! Go to the basket!”
Thompson tried to turn away, but Wall kept jawing until referee Gary Zielinski sprinted toward Wall and Thompson and – without hesitation or an attempt to diffuse the situation with a warning – went directly to assessing the players with a double technical foul.
I’m not sure why Thompson was hit with a tech but with this technical added to his previous one Wall was ejected from the game and the Warriors later won 101-92.
