Software developer, Adria Richards was fired this week after she tweeted a photo of someone at a conference that had made sexual jokes. She was attending the PyCon conference for program developers,she overheard two men behind her making jokes. She decided to take a picture of the two men and post it on twitter. Adria wrote,”Not cool. Jokes about forking repo’s in a sexual way and “big” dongles. Right behind me #pycon.” This action let to one of the men being fired.

Adria Richards, former employee SendGrid, said it fired her because it doesn’t “support how she reported the conduct,” CEO Jim Franklin said in a company blog post. He continued, “To be clear, SendGrid supports the right to report inappropriate behavior, whenever and wherever it occurs. Her decision to tweet the comments and photographs of the people who made the comments crossed the line. Publicly shaming the offenders – and bystanders – was not the appropriate way to handle the situation.”
