The long awaited drama involving where Ed Reed would play football next season is now officially over. After spending his entire career with the Baltimore Ravens, Reed signed a 3 year/ $15 million dollar contract with the Houston Texans this morning. The Ravens have been a sinking ship ever since winning the super bowl. Numerous players have either been cut, retired or signed with a different team since the big game. Reed was rumored to be leaving because Baltimore didn’t exactly want to pay him as much as he wanted for a new deal. Read more about it after the jump.

Reed, 34, has played all 11 of his NFL seasons in Baltimore, where he’s the franchise leader in interceptions with 61. His 1,541 return yards with those pickoffs is an NFL career record. He was the NFL defensive player of the year in 2004 and an eight-time All-Pro. Reed has 14 career touchdowns and is the only player in NFL history to score on a punt return, a blocked punt, an interception and a fumble recovery. He played in all 16 games during the 2012 regular season, finishing with 58 tackles and a team-high four interceptions. But with all those stats, the Ravens didn’t step up to the table in a major way when it came to a new deal. So now Reed will help the Texans in a big way on defense, and help a good team get even better.
