The New England Patriots and cornerback Aqib Talib have agreed to a one-year deal. Read more after the jump.
Talib reportedly had offers from the Washington Redskins as well as two other teams but chose to sign with the Patriots. The deal is reportedly a one-year, $5 million contract. The Patriots offered Talib a multi-year contract but he decided to sign for one and test the free agent market in 2014 when it’s less crowded.
Concerns about Talib’s off-field behavior depressed his market in an already soft cornerback market. Like so many others during this free agency period, Talib will “bet on himself” and hope that he improves his free agent value with a strong season.
In six games with the Patriots in 2012, Talib recorded 21 combined tackles and had one interception.
