Lions… tigers… bears. OH MY! The state of Illinois moves to ban the sale of lion meat.
Illinois is making moves to outlaw the sell and consumption of lion meat with penalties of up to a year in jail and a fine of $2,500. Any person in the state will also face penalties for ownership or breeding the animal for any purpose.
Animal-rights groups are gearing up to have the USDA hault the sale of lion meat nationwide by signing petitions at Change.org.
Now, more restaurants serving up lion on the menu have been putting a hold on the meat in order to meet the new law soon to be in effect.
Recently, more and more animals have ended up on our dinner plates unexpected like Taco Bell serving up horses and USDA looking to approve a horse slaughter plant.
