The season started out with a bang surrounding a highly publicized feud between Idol star judges, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. In addition to the two pop stars, the judge panel for this season includes Randy Jackson and Keith Urban. If you are alive you already know who was on the show but find out what record the four of these super stars helped American Idol achieve since the show first debuted in 2002.

Really though, this show has been on a long while. In the show’s quest, season after season to find America’s next Idol, everyone outside of the judges panel seems disinterested. The show’s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, has switched everything, including last year’s judges, out for a new “exciting” formula to get the viewers more involved in the show. Early on in the season, the show seemed to be less about the viewers and the contestants and more about the on-air drama between the judges. So what record did the show break?
Last Wednesday American Idol pulled in 13.1 million viewers, it’s lowest Wednesday night rating since the singing competition show debuted back in 2002. Dag!!!! That’s too bad. I think Nicki Minaj has more twitter followers than that. Oh well, hopefully the final rounds of the show will generate a better audience. Maybe not.
