Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson stunned the world when he returned from a torn ACL and MCL to not only lead his team to playoffs but also nearly set the all-time yardage record, win the Offensive Player of the Year and MVP for the season. Although he bounced back well from his injuries, Peterson says his son will never play football. Read more after the jump.
Peterson was out in Houston last week for All-Star Weekend carrying his young son when he said, “This is Adrian Jr. He won’t be playing football.”
Though Peterson defied all odds with his injury I can see why he wouldn’t want his son to play football. We’re seeing more cases where the injuries lead to devastating long term issues. Concussions amongst other things have been connected to depression and even suicide in the case of Junior Seau. Luckily for Adrian Jr. he won’t need to play to football, I’m sure his father will make sure he’s well taken care of. However if he gets his father’s genes and ends up loving the sport hopefully Adrian gives his blessing.
