There’s two things Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban throughly enjoys, saying whatever is on his mind and ruffling the Lakers feathers. Usually the two go hand in hand as they did recently when he suggested the Lakers should amnesty Kobe Bryant in order to deal with their impending luxury tax and payroll issues. The Lakers didn’t take too well to Cuban’s comments. Read more after the jump.
From Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News:
“We’re aware of Mark Cuban’s comments. We feel they’re inappropriate,” Lakers spokesman John Black said. “As far as the issue itself, we’re not going to comment publicly on the amnesty issue as it relates to any of our players.”
I doubt Cuban was really serious that the Lakers should amnesty Kobe Bryant. He’s one of the best players to ever play for the franchise and he’s still playing an extremely high level. Cuban’s main goal was to get under the Lakers skin and judging by their response I’m guessing it’s mission accomplished for him. Another bright side for Cuban, here’s one set of comments that he probably won’t get fined for, not that he really cares anyways…
