The New York Knicks hit a slump after their hot 18-5 start. The Knicks now have a season high of four straight losses since Woodson took over as head coach. They’ve fallen to 32-20 and the third seed in the Eastern Conference standings. There’s a multitude of reasons for their slump but Amare Stoudemire offers up one of his own. Read more after the jump.
From Marc Berman of the New York Post
Stoudemire hinted the team is too cocky at this juncture.
“We got plenty of swagger, we may have too much swag,’’ Stoudemire said. “We got to get more greedy, from the standpoint of wanting to defend, wanting to win and having a sense of urgency. We have to want to win. We got to have the mentality to want to win. It don’t matter if it looks good or not. We just got to get it done. It’s not a great feeling right now.’’
Aside from the need of the word “swag” to die, Stoudemire has a point. The Knicks defense has fallen off tremendously and they’ve looked lazy and uninspired during games. Hopefully this losing streak helps them snap out of it.
