Damn people! So quick to correct and get at someone! Lol. I feel bad for McNabb on this one, because I could totally see myself making this type of mistake. Donovan McNabb was trying to be a nice guy by congratulating Danica Patrick on becoming the first woman to win the Daytona 500 Pole. Pole is the key word here…but he said the wrong thing. Many followers pointed out, Patrick did not actually win the Daytona 500, but posted the fastest qualifying lap to earn pole position in next Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series opening race. Rather than acknowledge his confusion, McNabb made it seem like he was referring to the qualifying all along.
Add this to the handful of people who made jokes about McNabb having as much of a grasp of NASCAR as he does the NFL’s overtime rules, and it was a relatively rough day of online feedback for a guy who was likely just trying to express support for another athlete.
