Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz is reporting that they are on the verge of announcing the May 4th fight card headlined by Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.
This will be Mayweather’s first return to the ring in a year. In his last fight Mayweather defeated Miguel Cotto in a unanimous decision on May 5th making his record an impressive 43-0-0 (26 KOs).
Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KOs), meanwhile, spent the 2012 calendar year continuing his rise up the ranks. He defeated Selcuk Aydin and Andre Berto via unanimous decision last year and captured the vacant WBC welterweight championship.
The undercard for the event will feature WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez taking on WBA junior middleweight title holder Austin Trout.
