Drake is having a pretty great 24 hours! After winning a Grammy last night for Best Rap Album, dropping the video to his new single “Started From The Bottom” that everyone is raving about and announcing his new album, now the lawsuit that’s been dragging out surrounding his 2011 hit “Marvin’s Room” has been settled! The suit came up exactly a year ago, when a girl named Ericka Lee claimed she was the one on the other end of the line in the beginning, (think “Are you drunk right now?”) and that she’d also helped him with the hook…neither of which she was compensated for. Seems like it’s all solved now, though! Details below.
In his original reaction to the claim, Drake felt that he didn’t owe Ericka a cent. “She consented to the use of her voice in the song ‘Marvin’s Room’ for no compensation,” he’d wrote in his filed response. He also denied Ericka’s claims they’d had a romantic relationship. She sounds like a thirsty chick that just wanted some attention!
TMZ reports the two parties have come to an agreement, and the case was dismissed February 2nd. No word on if there was money involved, though!
