Find out which crimes the Chicago Police Department don’t consider to be an emergency.
Starting Sunday, the Chicago Police Department are taking drastic measures to free up 44 officers a day. The 911 dispatch changes that will go into effect include not sending an officer in the report drug sales, fights or burglaries in progress and will instead take a report over the phone. Officers will only be dispatched if a suspect is still at the scene or is expected to return immediately, the victim is not considered safe or needs medical attention, an officer could make an immediate arrest or an officer is needed for an immediate investigation.
