It was a tale straight out of the horror films. Over the weekend, 235 people lost their lives and many more were injured when a band’s set sparked a fire at a Brazil club, right nearby a college campus. The fire spread in seconds and because of improper safety regulations, many more died than should have in the blaze. The club’s two owners are likely to face charges because of this and for one of them, it just became too much to deal with. Details below.
Elissandro Spohr attempted to commit suicide while taking a shower yesterday. Santa Maria Police Chief Lylian Carus revealed he’d removed the shower hose and tied it to a window, but he was discovered by police before he was able to place the other end around his neck. “Everything indicates he was going to commit suicide by hanging,” she said. “He’s emotionally destroyed.”
