After a couple suspensions and then being subsequently let go from the Mavericks, Delonte West wasn’t picked up by any NBA teams. He decided to throw his name in the D-League pool and was picked up by none other than the Texas Legends, the Mavericks affiliate. So does that mean he could make a comeback to the Mavs? Read more after the jump.
No. That according to Mark Cuban, speaking to ESPNDallas.com.
“Not gonna happen,” Mark Cuban said, cutting off any speculation that the Mavs might welcome back West. “That doesn’t mean we don’t like Delonte, care about him as a person, want to help him get back on track….
“It’s not worth talking about at this point in time,” Cuban said. “It is what it is.”
West has proven to be a very viable option off the bench and since no teams picked him up and Mavericks refuse to take him back that speaks volumes to the importance of character. Teams are weary to add West due to the possible destruction and turbulence he can cause within the team. It isn’t exactly clear what occurred during his last days with the Mavericks but his other antics and battles with mental health are well documented. Hopefully he’s gotten the help he needs and can make a great showing in the D-League, enough to garner him some NBA interest.
