It all started in 1981 after the town of Ibi recovered the 200-year-old tradition.The People of Ibi, Spain celebrate the Els Enfarinats festival every year with a battle using flour, eggs and firecrackers. The battle is between two groups, ‘Els Enfarinats’ and ‘La Oposicio. The ‘Els Enfarinats’ takes the control of the village for one day, pronouncing ridiculous laws and fining the citizens that don’t follow them. The’La Oposicio tries to restore the order. At the end of the day the money collected from the fines is donated to charities in the village. I wonder how that would go if we tried that in the states lol. So Dope!
