The family of deceased Cowboy Jerry Brown released a statement today after he was killed in a fatal accident. His teammate Josh Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter in the case as it was found he was drunk driving during the time of the accident. Read more after the jump.
Per NFL reporter Ian Rapport:
“The family of Jerry Brown Jr. wish to express our sincere appreciation for all of your prayers, phone calls, flowers, visits and other acts of kindness shown during the death of our son.”
“We would like to send our prayers out to Josh Brent and his family as well. With kindness and love…”
The two guys were extremely close as they not only played together in Dallas, they also went to College together at the University of Illinois where they were teammates there as well. I’m sure this is extremely difficult for both families and it shows great strength for the family of Jerry Brown to send prayers to Josh Brent who I’m sure is suffering greatly as well for a mistake he’ll remember and have to deal with for the rest of his life.
