If you remember recently it came out that former NBA player Stephon Marbury paid hush money to his mistress Thurayyah Mitchell who alleged he hadn’t paid her in full. Now Marbury is saying he’s not paying her another dime. Read more after the jump.
Mitchell was hired as Marbury’s private chef back in 2006 and carried on an affair with the married NBA baller and father. Mitchell claimed Marbury agreed to pay her $900,000 to keep the affair a secret but says he stopped making payments in 2010 only shelling out $600,000. She later filed court documents in October trying to make Marbury pay her the remaining $300,000 as part of their agreement. An arbitrator ruled in Mitchell’s favor, ordering Marbury to pay her an additional $330,000.
Marbury however is refusing to pay and has filed court documents of his own. According to Marbury, Mitchell gave up her right to that money by publicly filing court docs that detailed her affair with the basketball player. He says the documents violated the confidentiality agreement because they were filed publicly rather than under seal.
A judge has yet to decide whether Mitchell gets her money or not.
