Best selling author, Bryce Courtenay, passed away at age 79 after a long battle with stomach cancer. Courtenay has had many successful books including, “The Power of One,” which was published in 1989, translated into 12 different languages, and made into a hit movie. His last book, “Jack of Diamonds,” was his 21st novel and began with an touching epilogue thanking fans for their support. Read more below.

The author passed away on Friday in his home surrounded by family. His last epilogue said:

It’s been a privilege to write for you and to have you accept me as a storyteller in your lives,” he wrote.

“Now, as my story draws to an end, may I say only, `Thank you. You have been simply wonderful,'” he added.
