On Friday, an oil rig exploded off the coast of Louisiana the other day leaving two people dead, four people injured, and two others missing. Today the Coast Guard announced that they found the body of one of the missing oil rig workers. Divers found the unidentified man this last night right under the platform on the sea floor. Two of the four injured workers are still listed in critical condition while the other two remain in stable condition after being treated for burns. There is currently a search and rescue mission to find the other worker who went missing. Read more below.
Black Elk Energy President and CEO John Hoffman said the body was discovered Saturday night under the platform, on the sea floor. The body has not been identified, Hoffman told reporters.
“We’re working in coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard so we can respectfully and most efficiently recover the body and get that body to shore,” Hoffman said.
