The mother of Dylan Klebold, one of the shooters of Columbine High School, was interviewed for a book about atypical children. She claims that when she heard that her son was one of the two responsible for the occurring massacre, she prayed that he kill himself. Her reason for this wish, was that she wanted him to want to take his own life before he had no choice and it was taken by the authorities. Hit the jump for more details on his mother’s thoughts.
‘For the first time,’ Mrs Klebold said, ‘I understood how Dylan appeared to others. When I saw his disdain for the world, I almost hated my son. I wanted to destroy the video that preserved him in that twisted and fierce mistake.’
After the rampage, many have put the blame on the perpetrators’ parents, speculating that perhaps they grew up in broken or violent homes. The Klebolds also have been criticized for keeping mum about their son’s actions, which they had done on the advice of their lawyer.
