The United States Coast Guard has announced that an offshore oil-drilling platfom in the Gulf of Mexico had an explosion and is currently on fire. The Coast Guard has activated a command center to rescue victims and investigate the explosion. So far there is no news on how big the rig is or how many people were on board, but there has already been casualties and reports of people missing. Read more below.

The WWL has reported that two people are reported to be dead and two others missing after the huge explosion. Four other people have been air-lifted to a nearby hospital and have been listed in critical condition. The rig is a shallow water platform that sits near the coast of the south-central Louisiana coast. We’ll have more as the story develops.
