Apple released their iPad Mini on Friday and the jokes floating around that the lines for the device were “Mini”. Are people really interested in the iPad Mini maybe not if you already own it’s larger counter part. Apple maybe trying to capture a market it didnt create. Lets give it a few months and lets see how people feel about the device. After all Black Friday and Christmas are around the corner, sales could be different around then.
On Thursday, just one soul was lined up at Apple’s Fifth Avenue store, braving the hurricane-induced traffic snarls and lack of transportation to make sure he had Apple’s latest gadget. (Hopefully he had some place to charge it.) But by Friday, Philip Elmer-DeWitt of Fortune reported, hundreds had lined up.
Pictures taken by media organizations appear to show iPad lines that are far smaller than previous generations. Noted Apple analyst Gene Munster has also weighed in. Apple will likely sell between 1 million and 1.5 million iPad minis in the first weekend, not even close to the 3 million third-generation iPads sold last March, Piper Jaffray’s Munster wrote in a note to clients. “The reason we expect fewer iPad minis compared to the 3rd Gen is because of the lack of the wireless option and newness of the smaller form factor for consumers. We believe that over time that will change.”
