Damn! Cut Already?! smh. Since falling out of shape and out of favor with the New York Knicks back in 2008, Eddy Curry has not been able to gain traction in getting his once-promising NBA career on track.
On Tuesday, his journey took another unfortunate turn when the San Antonio Spurs announced they had waived Curry with a week to go in training camp. The move was a surprise, as coach Gregg Popovich had indicated that Curry and forward Derrick Brown would have a shot at earning the 15th spot on the team’s roster. Instead, both were cut.
Curry, 29, had signed with the Spurs as a free agent at the start of camp. He played 14 games for Miami last year, averaging 5.9 minutes and 2.1 points. That followed three seasons in which he combined to play 10 games, including the 2010-11 season in which he did not play at all.
