Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, supposedly confirmed that she is engaged to her adopted brother and boyfriend, Nick Gordon, 22.
She nervously giggled as she said, “We’re engaged” to disapproving family members in footage from her new reality show “The Houstons: On Our Own,” which was obtained by E! Online.
“Engagement — this is unacceptable,” Brown’s aunt Pat Houston said in the brief clip.
But the news comes from a teaser designed to stir interest in the upcoming series. This leads some to wonder whether this announcement is simply for drama – and ratings – or if it is genuine.
Houston adopted Gordon when he was 12 years old, and the iconic singer raised the pair as siblings, reported US Weekly.
Rumors of Brown’s engagement to her bro-friend started circulating months ago. She was even spotted sporting a prominent ring while kissing Gordon. But sources have repeatedly denied gossip of a marriage proposal, according to ABC.
The Lifetime show, which appears to focus on the unconventional romance, premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
