Antoine Ashley, known as Sahara Davenport on Season 2 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” has died at 27, People.com reports.
The Dallas-born Ashley performed in drag at New York nightclubs before landing a spot on the Logo show, where he was one of 12 contestants vying for top drag queen.
“Shocked & heartbroken over @SaharaDavenport,” RuPaul tweeted Tuesday morning. “Never occurred to me that we’d ever lose one of my girls.”
The cause of death is unknown.
“He was an amazing artist and entertainer who’ll be deeply missed by his Logo family,” the Logo network, which airs the reality competition, posted on its Facebook page Tuesday.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, especially his boyfriend Karl, in their time of need.”
