Anderson and singer Drew Lachey were both in jeopardy of leaving the competition after receiving low scores for their performances on Monday night.
When the results were announced, Anderson said she had anticipated it.
“I was ready for it, for sure. We got the lowest score, but we’ll keep dancing, we’ll dance together again for sure,” she said, glancing back at her pro partner, Tristan MacManus.
Going into Tuesday night’s show, the actress was at the bottom of the leaderboard with 17 out of a possible maximum of 30 points, while NFL legend Emmitt Smith led the pack with 24.5 points.
In their critique of her tentative cha-cha Monday, judges told Anderson that she needed to work harder and infuse her routine with more intensity.
Earlier on in Tuesday’s results show, Anderson had said she loved dancing and wanted to return next week to do it some more.
Asked by co-host Tom Bergeron whether she was disappointed in her Monday night performance, she acknowledged that her emotions took over, adding that she had been traveling a lot and needed to rehearse more.
This is the show’s first season featuring stars who have competed on the program in previous years.
Also, for the first time in the show’s history, judges are awarding scores in half-point increments, and have said they expect a higher standard of dance and will be tougher in their evaluations.
