It’s almost time to start talking about the 2012-13 NBA season. But, before we do, there are a bunch of loose ends that still need to be tied up. One of those guys who doesn’t have to worry about which sneaker he’ll be repping during the upcoming season is Charlotte Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. After a successful season at the University of Kentucky last year, Kidd-Gilchrist—or MKG as most people call him—was drafted No. 2 overall during the 2012 NBA Draft. And, now, he’s decided which brand of sneakers he’ll be wearing during his rookie campaign.
“Dare to be Great,” he wrote on his Instagram page, after posting the photo you see above. “Glad to be apart of the brand Jordan family.”
That’s right. MKG has officially inked a deal with Jordan Brand. So, what does that mean? Well, for starters, it means that he’ll be rocking plenty of Jordan gear and sneakers next season. You’ll probably see him mashing out in exclusive Air Jordan kicks and rocking sneakers that you’d have to camp out overnight for to get. But, it also means that he may get his own Jordan signature sneaker one day. It won’t happen right away—signature sneakers are usually only reserved for players who really deserve them—but he’s one step closer to getting his own shoe.
