Walmart announced yesterday they will no longer be selling Amazon Kindle. Sources believe Walmart may have stopped selling the device because Amazon is a direct competitor of the retail chain.
According to Reuters, Wal-Mart circulated a memo to store managers yesterday about the change in policy.
“We have recently made the business decision to not carry Amazon tablets and eReaders beyond our existing inventory and purchase commitments,” the memo said. “This includes all Amazon Kindle models current and recently announced.”
The story notes that a Wal-Mart spokeswoman confirmed the decision and said the company would continue to sell various other tablets, eReaders and accessories. Amazon declined to comment.
