Have you ever been the odd ball that left their phone on during the movies or even a meeting, there might a remedy for that. U.K. designer Victor Johansson has created a jacket that silences your phone
The jacket is based on the principles of a “Faraday cage,” Johansson says.
A Faraday cage or shield is an enclosure that is formed by conducting material; this enclosure blocks external static electrical fields. The cage causes any charges to redistribute, and prevents them from being absorbed inside the cage.
Similarly, the jacket’s pocket acts as a cage that blocks all radio frequency waves. So instead of getting beeps and buzzes, you’ll hear blissful silence.
As a bonus, the jacket also helps save your phone’s battery with an embedded near-field communication (NFC) chip that turns off the phone’s antenna while in its pocket.
