The craziness in the New York Jets locker room continued on Friday as linebacker Bart Scott got into an altercation with a reporter.

According to New York Post writer Bart Hubbuch, Scott was close to fighting Dan Leberfeld of Jetsconfidential.com.

In a series of tweets, Hubbuch stated:

This seems like a high-pressure situation that could have turned ugly if not for the public relations representative who stepped in the way.

Leberfeld has been covering the Jets for 16 years, so he is not a rookie to the locker room. However, neither side wants to have a role in this type of situation.

New York is preparing for its Week 3 divisional matchup against the Miami Dolphins, but once again the main story has nothing to do with what is happening on the field. Since the end of last season, the back pages have been dominated by stories that should not be leaked from the locker room.

Recently, backup quarterback Tim Tebow has been a major topic of discussion despite the fact that he has received limited playing time.

Scott had been on edge over the last few weeks about the type of press the team has been getting. The veteran told Jim Corbett of USA Today that he is declaring a “media mutiny.” He continued:

You guys treat us like we’re a (bleeping) joke. You all want us to feed your papers, but then you all talk (bleep) about us. So why would I want to give you all quotes to sell papers with if you all treat us like (bleep)? That doesn’t make sense.

The latest incident was likely related, but all it does is fuel the fire of the theory that this team is out of control.
