Clips have hit the internet Tuesday (Sept. 18) of a video made with Donald Trump that features the “Apprentice” boss giving an actor playing President Obama a performance review and ultimately telling him at the end that he’s “fired” from the presidency.
It was supposed to air at the Republican National Convention Monday night, Aug. 27, but that night of the convention was canceled due to the threat of Hurricane Isaac and the video was never shown.
“I think they did a very good job,” Trump says of the video, on “Today.” “I actually was [surprised it wasn’t shown another night]. It came out very well. A lot of people wanted it, but the problem [the Republicans] have is they are not being tough enough.”
“They are not getting, I can’t say down and dirty, but that’s exactly what President Obama is doing with them. They’re gotta fight fire with fire,” Trump continues. “The Republicans have to get tougher or they’re going to lose this campaign.”
Trump also tells Matt Lauer what he thinks of the leaked fundraiser videos of Mitt Romney calling President Obama supporters “victims.”
“I think he has to not apologize, we’ve seen enough apologizing,” says Trump. “What he said is probably what he means.”
But Trump then goes on to address Romney’s response to the videos and says, “He’s actually saying that’s not what he meant and I’m sure he wished he didn’t say it, I’m sure he wished the hidden camera wasn’t there.”
