Dwyane Wade’s Wednesday appearance on “CBS This Morning” offered more than mere basketball or even discussion of his just-released memoir, “A Father First: How my life became bigger than basketball.”
In addition, co-host Gayle King broached the subject of the Miami Heat star’s extended relationship with actress Gabrielle Union, a relationship that is extensively addressed in the book.
Now divorced with primary custody of his two young sons, Wade was asked about a more formal future with the actress.
King posed her question as:
“I’m wondering, should I be getting a dress for the wedding? Could you give me a heads up? Will I be invited to the wedding? What side of the aisle should I sit on? Do you see her as a future Mrs. Wade, how about that?”
Wade responded with a laugh:
“Well, I wouldn’t be with her if I didn’t see her as a future Mrs. Wade. I think the thing that we’re doing is we’re continuing to grow. I’ve learned through my life is you take things one day at a time. And when the time is right, the time is right.”
King: “Is the time feeling right, Dwyane Wade?”
Wade: “We’re still growing. We’re good, we’re good.”
Wade and Union last year were on hand on New Year’s Eve when Heat star forward LeBron James proposed to longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson, with those two now engaged, expected to wed following the coming season.
