Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has vowed to move as quickly and efficiently as possible to secure a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather recently co-founded The Money Team Promotions alongside rapper 50 Cent, and Arum has expressed a willingness to co-operate with the new organisation – although it has not been confirmed whether or not TMT will promote Mayweather’s fights. Golden Boy, headed by Oscar De La Hoya, has helped to oversee the unbeaten American’s recent bouts.
Nonetheless, Arum has opted to touch base with 50 Cent over a Pacquiao v Mayweather showdown in 2013.
“We did [speak] with Curtis Jackson, 50 Cent, but I assume they’re looking at a fight next year, which we want to do,” Arum told boxingscene.com. “It shouldn’t be hard to make and so forth. Just get it done.”
All previous talks between the Mayweather and Pacquiao camps have broken down, most recently because of a dispute over how to distribute pay-per-view cash.
However, of late Mayweather has adopted a conciliatory tone, speaking about Pacquiao in more complimentary terms.
