Cricket annouced today they will have new wireless plans for its customers.  The new plans will have Muve Music service as a added bonus.  The new plans and Muve music service start Sept 2.
The Muve Music expansion is just one piece of Cricket’s new wireless rate plan puzzle, which provides customers with more choices and flexibility in their unlimited wireless service. New plans include more full-speed data choices and enhanced international calling products, according to Cricket.
“Through this innovative new model we will deliver a world class music experience to the mass market,” Muve Music Senior Vice President Jeff Toig, said in a statement. “We are breaking new ground in the wireless industry and digital music space.”
The music service will be available for free with the purchase of a select Cricket Android smartphone – the Huawei Mercury , HTC One V, Huawei Ascend Q, Huawei Ascend II, Samsung Vitality , and ZTE Chorus – when the products go on sale Sunday, at Cricket company-owned stores, online, or through certain partner retail outlets.
Cricket’s new rate plans will cost $35 to $45 a month for feature phones, offering unlimited nationwide talk and text. New smartphone plans range from $50 to $70, with varying options including 3G data and 1, 2.5, or 5GB of full-speed data per month.
CEO Doug Hutcheson calls the company’s new rates unique, not only in the no-contract wireless world, but also among postpaid offerings. With the addition of Muve Music, Hutcheson said the company believes its new plans bring “value-packed features into the mainstream of wireless services for all Cricket customers.”
Plus, Cricket’s lack of 4G capabilities may not be such a detriment.
In a survey published last week, investment firm Piper Jaffray found that consumers are generally unaware of the differences between 4G technologies, and almost half of Americans reportedly find no need for LTE – a surprising result given recent upticks in 4G wireless coverage around the country.
