Michael Vick debuted his Nike V7 clothing line Wednesday at a Modell’s Sporting Goods in Philadelphia, marking another milestone in what once seemed an unlikely return to NFL stardom.
Vick, who served a federal prison sentence on dogfighting-related charges, helped design the green and grey T-shirts which bore an apt slogan: “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was surrounded by children from local Boys & Girls Clubs at the unveiling and thanked those who made the apparel line possible.
“I’m more than glad to have Team Vick on the shelves,” he said. “This is an awesome opportunity for me. I’m excited to partner up with the Boys & Girls Club to make sure that a portion of the proceeds go to them as well.
“The goal is always to try to get yourself in good graces when you have a downfall. It’s still not over. I still have to walk a straight line each and every day.”
He said he was excited to get back to work at training camp later this month at Lehigh Universtiy in Bethlehem, Pa.
“Usually, I don’t want to go to camp. That part we can all admit that we can skip,” he said. “But this year we’re going to have fun with it, really enjoy it and make the most out of it.
“There’s a sense of urgency, and it should be that way when we have the chips lined up the way we have.”
The V7 line is available exclusively at Modell’s.
