According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News via Twitter, Grant Hill has limited his career decisions to either retirement or a fresh start with the Purple and Gold.
With newest acquisition Steve Nash ready for a shot at his first NBA title, it seems as if his impact has already hit the Lakers epicenter:
Sources told ESPN.com that Nash will try to convince longtime teammate Grant Hill, one of his closest friends in the game, to join him with the Lakers. ESPN The Magazine’s Ric Bucher reported over the weekend the Lakers were one of four teams (along with Toronto, New York and Phoenix) in the running for Hill after the 39-year-old’s recent trip to Germany to undergo the same platelet-enrichment treatment on his knee that Bryant credited for his rejuvenated knee last season
Grant Hill is 39 years old, yet there is no denying the efficiency he would bring a Laker bench sorely lacking production last year. Playing roughly 28 minutes per game with the Phoenix Suns, he put up 10.2 points per game while shooting nearly 45 percent from the field.
While the acquisition of Hill would bring production to the Lakers bench, it would also add another veteran voice to the Lakers’ young locker room. For a player who was devastated with injuries after being once considered the next Michael Jordan, the former Duke phenom has defied all expectations while remaining a class act and the consummate professional.
Not only would he be joining a Laker team that is ready to contend, he would also be following his floor general, Steve Nash, whom he has grown accustomed to playing with during the last several years.
