Earlier this month, three people were killed just outside of Columbia University in NY. Now, police have arrested Roberto Nunez and have surveillance cameras to thank for helping solve the case. More details after the jump.
NEW YORK (AP) — A suspect has been arrested in the killings of three men who were shot to death in a parked car near Columbia University’s campus in New York City.
Thirty-year-old Roberto Nunez was arrested Saturday on murder charges in the June 7 killings. It’s not immediately clear whether he has a lawyer, and a possible phone number for one of his relatives rang busy.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says detectives did a masterful job tracking down a suspect who initially appeared out of reach.
Surveillance video showed a suspect calmly walking away from the car and discarding his shirt a few blocks away.
Police say they found Nunez’ DNA on the shirt. They say an undercover officer also obtained the murder weapon during the investigation.
