With tons of rumors flying around about iOS 6, there is no concrete evidence on the new iPhone or what iOS is going to do. There have been rumors about the 3d maps, bigger screen sizes and an os overhaul, but one insider says we will be blown away by iOS 6.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5 will have a slimmer body, and a bigger screen, but also a new iOS. A source close to Apple has revealed that the iOS core aesthetic will remain intact, while the iOS apps coding has been rewritten to match the new iPhone’s hardware.
“Basically, you wont know it is iOS 6 until you launch app,†the source told idownloadblog.com.
Speculation is that the iPhone 5’s larger screen size (rumored 4’’) will require some modification to current apps anyway. Hence, it is not that Apple is inclined to tear up their 350K+ apps, but rather it needs to be done. Since it needs to be done, why not make it better?
The source claims that the re-written apps will “deliver groundbreaking enhancements.â€Â The Maps app certainly looks like it took a page or two out of Google’s Map app—3D location capability—so there’s no reason not to believe that Apple has re-vamped the rest of their app inventory.
Another significant upgrade that many Apple fans need is the multitasking. Multitasking is very hardware dependent, usually needing upwards of 1GB RAM or more to be efficient and feasible. According to recent rumors, the iPhone 5 will come with at least 1GB of ram and an ARM CPU. We don’t know how many cores Apple intend to deliver, but a dual core is a must if the iPhone wants to cover multitasking.
In ten days, Apple is due to make a keynote at the WWDC in San Francisco, so we may find out more about these “re-vamped†features in iOS 6.
