After saying recently he was “cool” with his contract, the Jets’ star cornerback reversed field once more yesterday and left open the possibility he could boycott the start of training camp next month because of displeasure with his contract.

Speaking to reporters after the Jets held an offseason practice, Revis refused to guarantee he would be in Cortland, N.Y., for the start of camp July 26 even though he would face $30,000 in daily fines under terms of the new collective bargaining agreement.

Revis also would make no promises about being on time despite a “holdout clause” in the patchwork extension he received in 2010 that would lock in three extra years to his deal at a low salary if he doesn’t show up.

“I can’t [guarantee reporting on time],” Revis said. “I don’t know. I don’t know if I am or if I’m not.”

The Jets endured a lengthy preseason holdout by Revis just two years ago before he agreed to a four-year, $46 million deal that included $32.5 million in guaranteed money and made him among the highest-paid cornerbacks in the game — at the time.

But Revis’ deal was heavily front-loaded, and his compensation will drop to $7.5 million this year and $6 million in 2013, both amounts well below the market value for arguably the best cornerback in the NFL.

“I’m getting ready for the season, and anything with my contract, we’ll deal with that in the future,” Revis said.

On the plus side, as far as the Jets are concerned, is Revis’ continued presence at the team’s ongoing voluntary offseason workouts. That is considered an encouraging sign, although Revis did the same thing in the spring of 2010 and still skipped all of training camp.

Revis got testy at times with the media for repeatedly asking him about the potential for another holdout, even as he was steadfast in refusing to close the door on that prospect.

“Here we go with the contract questions,” he said, angrily confronting one reporter for daring to make a follow-up query. “I’m here, and I’ll be playing.”

Coach Rex Ryan expressed confidence Revis would not hold out, saying yesterday he expects that his Pro Bowl shutdown corner will be on time to camp.

Ryan, however, appeared hesitant to go all-in with the prediction, prefacing it by saying it was out of his hands.

“I’m not going to get into the contract stuff,” Ryan said. “You can talk to [general manager Mike Tannenbaum] and Revis about that. My thing is, I’m excited about this upcoming season and having Revis there — there’s no doubt.”
